Hello! Welcome to the Big Bug Show, where the field trip comes to you!
Big Bug Show specializes in interactive children's programs with really big bugs from around the world! The Big Bug Show includes a 45 minute presentation of a selection of live invertebrates from around the world. Volunteers hold the 'safe' bugs - including giant millipedes, hissing roaches, vinegaroons, and tailess whipscorpions. Olly Bugologist handles the venomous bugs, including tarantulas, scorpions, and iant centipedes so that the audience can get as close as possible to these giant bugs!

This bug presentation is followed by a 15 minute less formal interaction where guests who did not volunteer to hold the safe bugs initially can come and hold the bugs and/or take pictures with the bugs and ask questions.

The Big Bug Show is available for birthday parties, fundraiser, school educational mobile field trips, and any event where bugs are welcome!

Olly Bugologist

You probably want to know a little about Olly Bugologist, too, right?
Olly is originally from England and graduated from the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne with a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science, holding honors in wildlife biology. He is the father of 3 gorgeous girls who love to hold and admire the bug collection regularly, and husband to a beautiful Philadelphia native who is currently a practicing doula and full-time mother.

Olly has worked with so many animals in his lifetime - including Giraffes at the London Zoo, a full-time zookeeper at Boston's Franklin Park Zoo, and an instructor for Rainforest Reptile Shows in Massachusetts. Working for Rainforest Reptile Shows propelled Olly into the interactive animal shows, working with rescued alligators, large snakes, and other reptiles in presenting educational shows for schools, birthday parties, and other interested groups. After moving to Philadelphia, Olly became first paramedic and now works full-time as a firefighter for the city of Philadelphia.

After partnering with the newly opened Bucks County Zoo as way to maintain contact with exotic animals, it was time to venture out and develop the Big Bug Show!

Olly resides in Philadelphia with his family.
